Biography
Om Rajendra Kathalkar is a PhD researcher in Computer Science at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, working under the supervision of Prof. Konstantinos Tserpes. He is affiliated with the Efficient Computing Lab, where his research focuses on Efficient AI Inference.
Prior to joining NTUA, he completed his Master’s degree from IIIT Hyderabad, where his work centered on computer vision for environmental intelligence. He developed TRAQID, a large-scale traffic-related air quality dataset, and AQIFormer, a transformer-based multi-view architecture for cross-city air quality prediction, achieving strong performance under diverse real-world conditions. Om has significant industry research experience as an Applied AI Researcher at Ericsson Research, where he contributed to the Horizon Europe PANDORA project. His work focused on network-aware path planning for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), integrating communication constraints such as latency, throughput, and signal quality into intelligent decision-making systems for industrial environments.
